Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking Training Systems Engineers to support commercial space operations at multiple locations across the United States. Cimarron is actively recruiting experienced professionals from NASA and NASA contractor backgrounds who are ready to bring their expertise to the rapidly growing commercial space industry! This position is available in San Antonio, TX.
Cimarron is offering a $1,000 referral bonus for all full-time hires!
Key Duties:
  • Design, develop, and maintain training systems, simulators, and courseware in support of commercial space mission operations and crew training programs.
  • Analyze mission systems and operational concepts to define training requirements and develop training needs assessments.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, flight operations personnel, and subject matter experts to ensure training content accurately reflects current system configurations and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain training system documentation including training plans, lesson plans, instructor guides, and student materials.
  • Support design, integration, and verification of training hardware and software systems including part-task trainers and high-fidelity simulators.
  • Conduct and support training effectiveness evaluations and recommend improvements to training systems and curricula.
  • Participate in configuration management processes to ensure training systems remain current with operational system changes.
  • Coordinate and support training events, proficiency assessments, and certification activities for flight crews and ground operations personnel.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.   • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 1 or more years of general, full-time work experience.
    • May be reduced with the completion of advanced education.
  • 1 or more years of directly related experience in training systems engineering, instructional systems design, or simulation development in a NASA, NASA contractor, or equivalent commercial space environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining training systems for complex technical or aerospace operations environments.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes as applied to training systems.
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience producing training plans, lesson plans, or related documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Prior experience supporting NASA human spaceflight training programs, flight crew training, or mission operations training.
  • Experience with simulator design, integration, or certification for aerospace or defense applications.
  • Familiarity with ADDIE or other instructional systems design methodologies.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and processes in a systems engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with commercial space vehicle systems, ground systems, or mission operations concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Education/Instructional Design, or a related technical field.
