Job description

St. John Paul II Seminary in Washington DC is hiring a full time Business Manager.
This is a full time role and will report to the Rector of the Seminary.
The Business Manager will be tasked with the smooth operations of the Seminary from a business and human resources perspective.
The salary range for this role is: $75,000 to $90,000 with excellent benefits

The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. To further that mission, the Archdiocese of Washington is hiring a Business Manager. This role will be responsible for the smooth operation of the JPII Seminary and will report to the Rector.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • All bill paying and payroll for the staff.
  • Approve all purchases for the kitchen and office.
  • Assist will all special events for the seminary (family day, etc.)
  • Work in tandem with the office staff for the successful running of the seminary.
  • Work closely with the facilities staff to coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with kitchen staff to coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with kitchen staff on menus, events, the proper functioning of the kitchen and scheduling.
  • The business manager is the point of contact with the Archdiocese for the periodic internal audits of the seminary.
  • The business manager will be Human Resources representative for the seminary.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A practicing Catholic committed to their faith.
  • Deep commitment to the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Professional poise and judgment to raise and resolve issues, as necessary, with the Rector and staff.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Collaborative work style to effectively interact with other Seminary and Archdiocese employees.
  • Aptitude to quickly become familiar with and follow guidelines in the Archdiocese Human Resources handbook.
  • Highly organized with excellent multi-tasking ability.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate/G.E.D. and some college level accounting courses.
  • Associates degree in accounting is a plus.
  • Three to Five years’ experience in accounting is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in Human Resources is preferred.
  • Experience in Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office software.
  • General knowledge of Archdiocesan operations and function.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time in-office position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Must have reliable transportation.
