Job description

Job Brief

The Counter Sales Representative position is responsible for assisting walk-in and online customers by answering questions and providing excellent customer service while maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with customers, the sales department, and their distribution center team members. The Counter Sales Representative will also be helping answer customer phone calls, and other continuous improvement projects as assigned by Leadership team. This position works closely with the DC Manager, DC Supervisor, and DC team to communicate customer needs and support DC tasks and responsibilities between customer-facing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist walk in and online customers by answering questions and providing excellent customer service
  • Maintain professional attitude when dealing with customers, sales department, and distribution center employees
  • Print pick tickets and assign warehouse inventory location
  • Answer customer questions and needs through phone calls, emails, and sales platforms regarding our products and services
  • Collect and input payment information from customers
  • Add new customer information, send quotes, and input orders through sales platforms
  • Handle customer concerns and resolve problems
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Surplus Cityโ€™s quality policies; establish procedures for maintaining quality objectives
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment
  • Make recommendations and provide feedback to improve operational excellence and efficiency
  • Ensure records are maintained appropriately and reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Follows all safety procedures detailed by SOP, local instruction, and by supervision
  • Any additional responsibilities as assigned by Leadership Team


Requirements & Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience working in a warehouse environment (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience handling cash processes with register and safe drop access
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers to aid in satisfying customer requirements
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attendance record required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) desired โ€“ able to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish
  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights
  • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Operate powered industrial lift trucks to push, pull, lift, stack, or move product, equipment, and materials
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel
  • Tolerate hot or cold environments
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check (including credit check) and drug screen.

This job requires the ability to:
