Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Loras College Enrollment Management Division, the financial aid counselor coordinates financial aid information and processing. The counselor is knowledgeable and works to become current in their understanding of federal, state, and institutional aid. The counselor administers various forms of student financial aid, assists with award processing, disbursement, compliance monitoring and reporting. The counselor works directly with students and families to understand and support their unique financial circumstances.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings.
  • Reporting to the director of financial planning, collaborate in the management of Title IV compliance, audits, and state and federal reporting requirements
  • Work effectively with multiple campus offices to serve students, including admission, advancement, business office, registrar, and academic affairs, and student development.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior in working with confidential information.
  • Assist students and parents in the completion of financial aid applications and supporting documentation.
  • Package incoming and returning student awards in accordance with institutional, state, and federal regulations with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Participate in and present at student orientation sessions, admission visit days, and community workshops
  • Engage with state and federal meetings, activities, and workshops as necessary for professional development.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Previous experience working in an office setting, with a preference in financial, business, and higher education settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Computer Skills: Competent in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of databases and web-based tools including student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM)
