Job Description

Company provides manufacturing and engineering services to a wide variety of industries including automotive and construction. Looking for an Estimating Engineer.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Prepare tooling and piece price quotations as received through customer inquiries

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* In conjunction with required departments, determine estimated strip layout, required die types, the type and number of secondary operations, production, assembly, and packaging methods required to produce a part in the most efficient and cost effective way


* Complete in-house tooling forms, parts estimating forms, raw material cost requisition form and cost card to roll these costs into an estimate

* Maintain vendor contact for outside processing such as plating, heat treating, tumbling and purchased parts

* Request quotes and secure competitive costs from vendors for any outside items/processes needed to complete estimates

* Send prints and data to Costa Rica Engineering facility as needed for flat blanks and other information needed for estimates

* Evaluate tooling cost breakdown sheets, packaging instructions and other customer provided documents to determine the required costs for each production step

* Conduct re-quotes for all customers including service requirements, labor adjustments, material or component price changes and volume fluctuations

* Maintain library of customer specifications to ensure meeting customer requirements

* Provide service and support to sales/engineering departments on any new and/or existing programs in all facets of their development

* Download/Upload data on Customer/Vendor ftp sites

* Travel to customers, potential customers and suppliers as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

* 3-5 years stamping, tooling and blueprint reading and/or Journeyman Tool & Die

* 2 years stamping estimating experience

* CAD and tooling design experience a plus

* Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and all other office products
