Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, MetOx International, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Cost Accounting Manager to lead the implementation and ongoing development of the company's cost accounting structure as manufacturing operations continue to scale. This role will be responsible for establishing and managing core manufacturing accounting processes, including product costing methodologies, inventory accounting structures, manufacturing variance reporting, and financial controls within NetSuite. The Cost Accounting Manager will play a key role in building the company's overall cost accounting framework, ensuring manufacturing and inventory transactions are structured appropriately to support operational visibility, financial accuracy, and long-term scalability.
A significant focus of this role will include ownership of Manufacturing WIP and Routing setup within NetSuite, while partnering closely with Supply Chain to support implementation and optimization of Demand Planning functionality. This position will work cross-functionally with Finance, Manufacturing, Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to align accounting structures with production workflows and operational planning processes.
The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, enjoys building processes and structure in a growing environment, and is comfortable balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with implementation and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the VP of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Accounting Structure & ERP Implementation
    • Leads implementation and ongoing development of the company's manufacturing cost accounting structure within NetSuite.
    • Establishes and maintains manufacturing accounting processes related to inventory valuation, product costing, labor tracking, overhead allocation, and variance reporting.
    • Owns setup, maintenance, and optimization of Manufacturing WIP and Routing functionality within NetSuite.
    • Partners cross-functionally to ensure manufacturing transactions, inventory flows, and production reporting are aligned with accounting and operational requirements.
    • Supports development of scalable costing methodologies and financial controls as manufacturing operations expand.
    • Identifies and resolves process gaps impacting manufacturing accounting accuracy, reporting consistency, and operational visibility.
    • Helps improve ERP workflows, reporting structures, and data integrity tied to manufacturing finance activities.
  • Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
    • Maintains and manages standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead.
    • Reviews and analyzes manufacturing variances, including labor, material usage, scrap, yield, rework, and overhead absorption.
    • Supports monthly inventory and cost accounting close activities.
    • Partners with Manufacturing and Operations teams to better understand production costs, manufacturing drivers, and operational performance.
    • Supports costing analysis tied to process improvements, yield optimization, capacity planning, and manufacturing efficiency initiatives.
    • Maintains accurate product costing data, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and inventory-related information within ERP systems.
  • Inventory Accounting & Internal Controls
    • Oversees inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory support.
    • Ensures inventory and manufacturing transactions are recorded accurately and timely within NetSuite.
    • Investigates inventory discrepancies and partners cross-functionally to resolve root causes.
    • Establishes and maintains internal controls related to inventory accounting and manufacturing finance processes.
    • Supports efforts to improve inventory accuracy, traceability, and reporting consistency across operations.
  • Demand Planning & Supply Chain Partnership
    • Partners closely with Supply Chain to support implementation and optimization of Demand Planning functionality within NetSuite.
    • Helps align inventory planning, purchasing, and production forecasting processes with operational and financial objectives.
    • Supports reporting and analysis related to inventory trends, material planning, manufacturing demand signals, and production requirements.
    • Collaborates cross-functionally to improve planning accuracy, inventory visibility, and operational coordination.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepares recurring cost accounting reports and analysis for Finance and Operations leadership.
    • Participates in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
    • Supports budgeting and forecasting activities related to manufacturing operations and inventory planning.
    • Assists with audit requests and supporting documentation related to inventory and manufacturing accounting.
    • Provides financial analysis tied to inventory trends, production costs, manufacturing performance, and operational scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
    • Partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations teams.
    • Helps promote consistent processes, accountability, and data accuracy across manufacturing finance activities.
    • Identifies opportunities to streamline reporting, improve financial visibility, and enhance operational reporting capabilities.
    • Supports implementation of scalable accounting and operational processes as the organization continues to grow.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting implementation or improvement of manufacturing accounting processes and controls.
  • Hands-on experience working within ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with NetSuite Manufacturing, WIP & Routing, and Demand Planning modules.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience supporting discrete manufacturing or complex multi-step production environments.
  • Experience supporting advanced materials, industrial technology, semiconductor, thin film, chemical processing, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing or industrial organizations.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing manufacturing ERP workflows and financial reporting structures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process flows, inventory transactions, and ERP system dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and implementation activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, manufacturing, supply chain, and operational teams.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support scalable operational solutions.

Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
