Job description

Cost Accounting Performs a broad range of complex and difficult accounting assignments with responsibility for recommending and installing changes in cost accounting methods and procedures. Under minimum supervision, carries out assignments in inventory accounting, the labor-burden function, and the material function as assigned. May instruct other employees engaged in cost accounting or related activities. Assist and/or support, globally, other internal entities. Interprets and improves cost accounting systems and procedures. Assists the Operations Group in organizing the procedures for taking of periodic physical inventories. Performs physical inventory audits and reconciliation. Reconciles the perpetual inventory detail to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Analyzes actual costs versus standard costs and the impact on inventory, material, labor and burden manufacturing variances generated. Analyzes sales and gross profit by product line. Assists in the preparation of annual operating budgets for manufacturing departments. Responsible for annual standards revision. Ensures labor, overhead and equipment rates are accurately calculated based on the budget. Provides base manufacturing cost figures for the complex and high volume inquiries and orders where the analysis and development of cost figures is difficult, and where estimates relating to materials, burden and equipment require considerable judgment and experience. Assists other departments and cost estimating personnel on matters pertaining to the development of cost estimates to assure consideration of all pertinent facts and proper application of standard data. Carries out special projects as from time to time are required. Provides assistance to other Accounting groups both domestically and globally during Financial Statement monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting.
