Directly manages Vice President, General Managers (VP GMs) of the company-owned store groups and indirectly supports branch personnel reporting to the VP & GMs, supporting operations throughout the Eastern Region. May have direct or indirect reporting responsibilities for other assigned personnel supporting operations within the region. 

  • In conjunction with sales leaders and VP GMs, lead the development and execution of strategies to profitably increase sales and market share in company-owned store markets in alignment with overall company goals.  Develop forecasts, sales plans, and sales management processes based on a thorough understanding of the industry, competitors, and customer segments.   
  • Ensures consistent, positive customer experience across all sales channels, including in the branch, via phone and video, at the customer location or job site, and across digital platforms by establishing policies, defining best practices, and implementing consistent standard operating procedures across store functional areas to differentiate Johnstone’s value proposition.   
  • Delivers financial returns in accordance with expectations established in collaboration with Johnstone’s Senior Leadership Team.  Develops budgets that provide resources to execute strategy and deliver profitability expectations.  Monitors financial and operational KPIs and implements corrective actions as necessary.  
  • Ensure proper policies, procedures, and controls are in place to manage company assets, including inventory, equipment, building facilities, and other supply chain assets. 
  • Partners with Johnstone Services Team (JST) leadership to leverage programs and services, including technology, inventory planning and management, transportation and logistics, marketing, sales, product management, vendor management, and training. 
  • Ensures the successful integration of acquired stores into the larger organization by developing and implementing plans to lead teams through change and standardize operations.  Participates in acquisition diligence when applicable.  Works collaboratively with JST departments and COS leaders to support new stores as they acclimate to the organization, providing initial and ongoing leadership, direction, and support. 
  • Remains current in industry and local markets, identifying, recommending, and implementing strategies, structure, processes, programs, training, and support to the COS group/s to ensure organizational objectives are achieved.  
  • Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.   
  • Ensures workplace safety programs are effective and consistently implemented. 
  • Enhances productivity, efficiency, and sales results through continuous process improvement. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or related field required 
  • Ten or more years of related experience in a similar position 
  • Five or more years’ experience leading and managing diverse teams in a multi-state, multi-store environment 
  • Minimum five years managing budgets and financial performance for a multi-location organization  

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree in business or related field  
  • HVAC/R product knowledge is highly desirable 
  • Experience managing operations, sales, and/or logistics in a wholesale distribution environment  

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability in order to travel across COS territories.  

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to develop and execute against sales, marketing, and operational plans to drive sales through multiple sales channels.
