Job description

Humana's Corporate Strategy team is a small, high-performing group that works closely with senior leadership to establish the future course for the company. In Corporate Strategy, you will identify and analyze growth opportunities and work with business leaders to prioritize options and set the long-term strategy agenda. The team has frequent interactions with Humana's CEO and regularly manages deliverables for Humana's broader Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Our team also undertakes internal consulting engagements across a wide range of topics.

The Corporate Strategy Consultant role is modeled after those of top-tier management consultancies. Daily activities will include developing industry analyses, building high-level financial or other business models, conducting qualitative analyses and synthesizing findings to create executive-level deliverables and recommendations for Humana's senior leaders. Examples of project work include identifying and evaluating growth opportunities across our lines of business, developing market and competitive strategies, assessing partnership and acquisition opportunities, designing operating model / organizational improvements, and supporting pilots / innovation opportunities for various business leaders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support your project lead on executing enterprise-wide strategic initiatives that impact Humana's long-term growth and competitive positioning.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses (e.g., financial modeling, market research, competitive assessments, expert interviews, data analysis) to test hypotheses, validate assumptions, synthesize findings, and generate actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to gather information, test assumptions, and develop a well-informed perspective on strategic opportunities and business risks
  • Develop executive-ready materials and presentations for senior executives and support materials for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Evaluate growth, market expansion, partnership, acquisition, and innovation opportunities.
  • Serve as a trusted adviser to business leaders on strategic priorities and enterprise planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Strategy colleagues, and contribute to a high-performing, inclusive, and supportive team environment

Use your skills to make an impact

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of consulting, strategy, or relevant corporate experience (i.e., strategic in nature vs. primarily operational)
  • Analytical skills(ex: quantitative analysis and research, financial modeling)
  • Conceptual skills (ex: translating ambiguous problem statements into structured frameworks, generating hypotheses independently and testing them, synthesizing complex information into digestible executive insights, managing cross-functional stakeholders)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Meaningful experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or investment banking / corporate development
  • Relevant healthcare experience, especially in payer industry

Location: Working locations are primarily Louisville, KY, and Arlington, VA (Washington, DC metro area); also open to candidates living in or willing to relocate to Chicago or Nashville. The Strategy team operates on a hybrid schedule with an expectation of 2 to 3 in office days per week. Relocation assistance available.

Travel: Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$104,400 - $143,600 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
