Job Title: Business Development Reservoir Engineering Technician
Department: BD/Development
Summary of Position
We are seeking a high-caliber Business Development Reservoir Engineering Technician to join our Corporate Development team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our data evaluation pipeline for asset acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. Your primary focus will be rapidly aggregating, scrubbing, and modeling large datasets from external data rooms and public repositories to identify commercial opportunities, evaluate competitor performance, and support strategic underwriting.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Database management
    • Build and maintain master ComboCurve databases converted from ARIES or PHDwin for target assets. Integrate well headers, production histories, and ownership records.
    • Manage, update, and maintain outside sourced VDR materials. Ensure data integrity for all A&D processes. Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and insights that will improve decision-making.
    • Identify and mine reliable internal and external data sources for integration and analysis to support business development processes.
    • Inventory, load, and update ArcGIS and Kingdom platforms for business development processes.
    • Maintain and manage geological databases across multiple environments including Kingdom and Dnamoics with proprietary, Enverus, TGS, and IHS Global data.
  • Data Integration:
    • Extract, clean, and reconcile historical production, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and well header information from multiple sources
    • Design and deploy custom tools to streamline repetitive administrative tasks.
    • Build and maintain dynamic dashboards in TIBCO Spotfire to assist in gaining insights into operator best practices, capital efficiency opportunities, and asset optimization underperformance.
    • Utilize GIS tools to perform spatial data analysis and visualization & assist in Integrating GIS data with the reserves database to enhance data analytics capabilities.
  • Process Improvement & Optimization:
    • Utilize AI and process automation to create scalable solutions that enhance workflow efficiency, reduce errors, and minimize administrative costs.
    • Standardize and improve VDR analysis through automated data validation and quality assurance.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with reservoir engineering and geoscience to ensure accurate representation of commercial and reservoir data.
    • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Development and IT, GIS, and other departments to align data and technology solutions with business objectives.
    • Communicate complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, data science, data analytics, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years in reservoir technician experience in an E&P environment, with at least 1-2 years specifically dedicated to Corporate Development, M&A, or A&D workflows.
  • Proven experience with ComboCurve, ARIES, and PHDwin. SQL for report generation, data extraction, and database management.
  • Expert-level TIBCO Spotfire dashboard design. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Power Query, VBA) and Microsoft Access.
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil and gas terminology and the transaction lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of geospatial software programs such as ArcGIS or QGis
  • Exceptional speed and accuracy under tight transaction deadlines, a puzzle-solving mindset, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.

Compensation & Benefits
Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.
Compensation:
The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $100,000 - $150,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 40% of eligible pay. This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 8-15% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
