About the Opportunity

Cornerstone Mortgage Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations with a strong focus on Accounts Payable, invoice processing, General Ledger coding, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and looking to grow their accounting career within a fast-paced mortgage environment.


Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume Accounts Payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
  • Accurately assign and validate General Ledger (GL) account codes and cost center allocations.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and investigate invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with journal entries and General Ledger maintenance.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by gathering required documentation.
  • Partner with accounting, operations, and mortgage servicing teams to resolve financial questions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and internal controls.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes.
  • Experience with General Ledger coding and account reconciliations.
  • Ability to analyze invoices and accurately allocate expenses to the appropriate GL accounts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within the mortgage, lending, banking, or financial services industry.
