Cornerstone Systems is seeking a Flatbed Solutions Specialist for our office in Alpharetta, GA. The Flatbed Solutions Specialist serves as an integral part of Cornerstone’s Brokerage division, combining business development, customer relationship management, and operational expertise to grow our Flatbed/Open-Deck and Specialized Equipment business.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced transportation sales professional with strong flatbed and open-deck market knowledge who enjoys building business, developing relationships, and solving complex transportation challenges. This position operates in a 70/30 inside/outside sales capacity and requires the ability to work in a cradle-to-grave environment as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO →
  • Develop strong account relationships with contacts at multiple levels within customer organizations through phone communication and face-to-face visits.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to generate new business while identifying opportunities to grow existing customer accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships and assist in a cradle-to-grave capacity as needed.
  • Stay ahead of market opportunities, customer needs, pricing conditions, and emerging industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities to further penetrate existing accounts by introducing customers to Cornerstone’s broader portfolio of transportation and logistics solutions.
  • Design customized transportation solutions that help customers solve complex supply chain challenges.
  • Prepare effective pricing solutions, including RFP responses, spot quotes, and contractual pricing.
  • Identify operational or customer issues, collaborate with appropriate stakeholders, determine the best course of action, and implement effective solutions.
  • Identify and sell both transactional and contractual pricing models.
  • Help oversee day-to-day flatbed operations to ensure exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner regularly with Pricing and Operations to develop competitive and profitable transportation solutions.
  • Manage customer expectations through proactive communication, relationship management, and the development and utilization of account metrics.
  • Negotiate effectively with customers and carriers while protecting margin integrity.
  • Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset and take ownership of business development opportunities from initial prospecting through execution.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED →
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 2+ years of freight brokerage sales experience or experience working for a 3PL or asset-based logistics provider.
  • Strong Flatbed/Open-Deck and Specialized Equipment market knowledge and industry relationships preferred.
  • Experience developing new business and managing customer relationships within the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, competitive spirit, and strong sense of ownership.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of carrier costs, customer pricing, and margin integrity.
  • Strong industry knowledge and operational expertise.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to effectively manage time and competing priorities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
