Job description

SUMMARY

The Senior Counsel, Compliance & Data Privacy role will manage the administration of Core Laboratories' Corporate Compliance and Data Privacy programs. The incumbent will design and coordinate company-wide training in accordance with local regulations and corporate-wide policies. The role will also be responsible for leading investigations into alleged ethics violations and data privacy matters. The successful candidate will have experience with in-house corporate investigations or have represented clients in investigative matters; strong presentation skills; and the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively at all levels in the Core Lab organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the organization's global compliance program, including anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, trade compliance, and data privacy, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations across the US, EU, and UK.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks, including policies, procedures, internal controls, and risk assessment/audit processes to identify gaps and ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on global regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, FCPA, UK Bribery Act, US/EU/UK sanctions and export controls), monitoring legal developments and advising senior leadership on risks and necessary mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee the global data privacy program, including incident response (e.g., data breaches), regulatory reporting, and cross-border data transfer compliance, ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place.

  • Design, implement, and deliver compliance training programs across multiple platforms, locations, and formats so that they reach all Core Lab employees, and promote a strong culture of ethics and compliance across the organization.

  • Manage regulatory engagement and enforcement matters, including liaising with authorities, responding to inquiries, overseeing investigations, responding to ethics & compliance helpline complaints (keeping the General Counsel apprised of all reports), and preparing required filings and disclosures.

  • Collaborate with legal, IT, and business teams to integrate compliance requirements into operations, including contract review and the incorporation of appropriate compliance provisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. from accredited law school.

  • Licensed to practice law.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with a law firm or corporate legal department, at least 3 leading compliance programs.
