Job description

Determines reimbursement to patients and/or insurance companies for over payments to the Hospital. Verifies insurance company benefits and patient payments
High School or equivalent 1-2 years of clerical experience in a healthcare setting, including insurance billing. Tools used ar as follows: calculator, typewriter, data entry terminal, telephone, copier, and fax. Proficiency with bookkeeping principles. Working knowledge of medical insurance billing and patient accounts. Excellent customer service telephone, and verbal communication skills. Above average attention to detail. Ability to form effective working relationships with employees, management, insurance company contacts, etc. Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to handle of various office reports, notebooks, files or file folders on a daily basis. Occasional use of year-to-date/cumulative type reports requiring light duty lifting of approximately 15-20 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to review patient accounts and billing; visual acuity also necessary for filing and proofing documents; ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; verbal communications and hearing ability to communicate with a multitude of customers. Ability to meet attendance requirements of the job.
