Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations.
The position of Cope Line Specialist is responsible for:
  • Assist callers who request telephone based crisis intervention.
  • Greet callers, establishing rapport, exploring emotional and mental state of mind using active, positive, comforting, and problem-solving language, following protocols, identifying warning signs, and assessing degree of caller risk.
  • Assess human service requirements using crisis intervention, active listening skills, and suicide risk assessment.
  • Assist the caller in handling the existing situation and establishing rapport with the caller.
  • Search computer database to provide appropriate social service provider referrals.
  • Maintain the appropriate documentation of each phone call.
  • Support the mission and work of the organization and act as an actively contributing team member.
  • Develop effective working relations within the organization.
  • Adhere to COPE Line philosophies, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the continuous training program in order to maintain skill level and adherence to COPE Line policy, procedure, and/or program changes.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of COPE Line procedures, trainings, announcements, and events.
  • Read emails, internal computerized announcements, bulletin boards and newsletters to remain informed.
  • Attend regularly scheduled hotline shifts and follow COPE Line policies to arrange for hotline shift coverage when absent.
  • Must be ready to answer the phone as soon as their assigned shift begins
  • Call on call Emergency Services counselors when indicated.
