Job Summary

McAdams Propane, a Meritum Energy Holdings Company in Henderson, TX, is seeking a Propane Delivery Driver and Service Tech to join the team! The position will play a crucial role in providing propane and refined fuel deliveries in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction. In addition to propane and fuel delivery, this position will also offer responsibilities with installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment, in a growth-oriented environment.

To ensure success, one must have a willingness to multitask, a passion for customer service and the aspiration to be involved with building a local business. This will require excellent communication skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges and the ability to execute on identified solutions. Above all else, personal safety and the safety of our customers must take on the highest priority.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Travels to customer homes and businesses to install, service, or deliver propane systems and equipment
  • Installs and tests propane tanks, appliances, and related equipment, ensuring all connections meet safety standards
  • Performs site surveys and makes recommendations on equipment placement
  • Troubleshoots and repairs LP appliances, furnaces, water heaters, and other related systems
  • Provides customers with clear verbal and written instructions for operating new equipment
  • Cleans up job sites and ensures all equipment and tools are maintained after service is completed
  • Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane and fuel to residential and commercial locations
  • Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections and maintains accurate records in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Monitors vehicle maintenance needs, performs minor repairs, and ensures timely service and reporting of mechanical issues
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and monitors stock levels
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal safety and transportation regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven work experience as a Propane Delivery Driver or Licensed Service Technician
  • Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) and refined fuel systems
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and uphold a customer focused culture that continually strives to exceed expectations 

Education, Certification, Licenses Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • LP Delivery and LP Service and Installation certification through the TRRC (preferred, or with the ability to obtain)
  • TWIC card (preferred but not required)

Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 20 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift
  • Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
  • Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night
  • Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms 
  • Must be able to speak and hear
  • Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
  • Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
  • Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
  • Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles, and gases is common
