Responsibilities:
Prepare meals for residents, in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served
Supervise the activities of one or more workers in the preparing and serving of meals
Operate various kitchen equipment in preparation of meals
Clean work surfaces during your shift (clean as you go): clean floors, wipe down counter space (as spills occur), sweep and mop floor section at end of shift, cover and store unused foods according to standards and procedures for assuring quality and safety of foods
Ensure delivery of optimal food quality, timely service, as well as high sanitation standards
Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience: 1 year minimum skilled nursing home dietary experience required
Must be able to work at a constant pace to ensure that food is prepared and served on time for each meal of the day
Ability to take food temperatures, ensuring food quality, and appearance
Requires personal and staff compliance to all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety
Ability to work harmoniously with other employees and develop/maintain good employee relations and employee morale
Bonus Points:
At least 6 months of experience in long term care, community-based care, or assisted living
Good time management and organizational skills
Experience interacting with individuals diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimerโs disease
