Job description

Job Title: Commercial Kitchen & Cooler Install Helper

Department: Commercialย 

This position will be working for our Atlantic Coast, dba Silver State Refrigeration, division in Miami, Florida.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour, DOE

This position will primarily work throughout Miami and surrounding areas, supporting commercial kitchen construction and restaurant projects.

Job Summary

The Commercial Kitchen & Cooler Install Helper is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in the commercial refrigeration and kitchen equipment installation trade. Working under the direction of experienced Installers, the Install Helper assists with the installation of commercial kitchen equipment and walk-in cooler systems for restaurants, food service facilities, and other commercial projects. This role is ideal for someone with basic construction or handyman experience who is eager to learn, develop new skills, and grow within the trade while supporting projects completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and applicable safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of commercial kitchen equipment, including cooking lines, refrigeration units, and prep stations.
  • Assist with the installation of walk-in coolers and freezers, including panels and doors.
  • Help measure, assemble, and secure equipment to ensure proper fit and functionality.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment safely and effectively under the direction of the Installer.
  • Assist with securing and anchoring equipment according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
  • Load, unload, organize, and transport materials, equipment, and tools to and from job sites.
  • Support Installers with project setup, cleanup, and maintaining an organized work area throughout each project.
  • Follow project drawings, layouts, and installation instructions as directed.
  • Communicate any installation concerns, material shortages, or safety issues to the Installer or Project Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Help ensure installations meet applicable safety, quality, and code requirements.
  • Complete required time records and other assigned documentation accurately and timely.
  • Follow all company, state, and federal safety guidelines while performing assigned duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Interest in learning a skilled trade and building a career in commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration installation.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn from experienced Installers.
  • Basic construction, handyman, installation, or mechanical experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment preferred.
  • Commercial kitchen equipment or walk-in cooler installation experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • OSHA certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working on restaurant, food service, or commercial construction projects is a plus.
  • All qualified candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle (MVR) check, and background check. Candidates who may operate company vehicles must maintain an insurable driving record as determined by the company's insurance provider.
