Job description

Position:  Nutrition Full Time- Utility / Service Worker

   

Job Description:   Under the direction of the Cafeteria Supervisor,  Cook Manager or Lead- to perform and complete a number  of duties involved  in the cafeteria  area or connected  to the food  service  operation.  This  includes assisting  in loading and unloading as required, cleaning related cafeteria and/or kitchen areas after meal service, removal of waste and recycling from the cafeteria and/or meal service. This would also include setup and movement of tables before and after meal service, and to perform related tasks as assigned.

   

Performance Responsibilities:

 
  • Cleans and maintains kitchen and dining areas, adjoining hallways and storage areas, restrooms and other intemal and exterior areas, sidewalks and exterior  walkways serving  the cafeteria premises.
  • In kitchen and dining areas,  cleans and maintains areas in accordance with all standards for safety and health.
  • Uses appropriate brooms, mops, and light-or heavy-duty floor cleaning equipment to sweep, mop, strip and wax floors to assist or perform as needed.
  • Uses any required procedures to sanitize as required.
  • Uses appropriate equipment to clean floors and surfaces, and lighting fixtures, cabinets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes areas, washrooms, and drinking water distribution units.
  • Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, interior and exterior  window surfaces,  window treatments, doors and sills.
  • Executes the waste management plan including any segregation, recycling,  cleaning and/or sanitation components.
  • Maintains adjacent driveways, parking areas, entrances and passageways as appropriate to clear snow, ice, standing water, leaves,  debris and/or other impediments to safe passage.
  • Maintain /repair equipment and notify of any required  maintenance to supervisor.
  • Follows all applicable health, safety and code compliance rules,  regulations and procedures; executes any and all required components of communicable disease prevention and control plans.
  • Controls all cleaning solutions, compounds and chemicals during use, prohibiting access by students and staff.
  • Securely stores all cleaning solutions, compounds and chemicals when not in use.
  • Assists with breakfast and/or lunch programs as required.
  • Maintains practices that help to ensure economical use of all resources, including but not limited to water, electricity and cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains current record of inventory levels of materials,  supplies and equipment; follows replacement protocols.
   

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

 

This position requires extraordinary physical effort. May experience long periods of bending and reaching;  excellent sense of balance; frequent periods of sustained uncomfortable physical positions continuous walking and standing.  May be subject to conditions of flooding and/or water plumbing breaks.
