What is conversion rate optimization?

A Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) job involves analyzing user behavior, running A/B tests, and implementing strategies to improve the percentage of website visitors who take a desired action, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter. CRO specialists use data, analytics, and user feedback to identify barriers in the conversion funnel and optimize website elements like landing pages, forms, and calls-to-action. The goal is to enhance user experience and increase conversions without increasing traffic.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in conversion rate optimization?

To excel in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), you need a solid understanding of digital marketing, data analysis, user experience (UX) principles, and A/B testing methodologies, typically supported by a degree in marketing, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with CRO tools such as Google Analytics, Optimizely, VWO, and heatmapping software, as well as certifications in analytics or UX, is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and effective communication help in interpreting data and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These competencies are crucial for identifying opportunities, implementing meaningful experiments, and driving measurable improvements in conversion rates.

What are the typical challenges faced by professionals in conversion rate optimization, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Conversion Rate Optimization often face challenges such as interpreting complex user data, running statistically valid experiments, and balancing various stakeholder priorities. It can take time to achieve meaningful results since significant changes in conversion rates may require multiple iterations of testing and optimization. To address these challenges, strong analytical skills and open communication with marketing, design, and development teams are essential. Many employers also encourage ongoing learning and team collaboration to stay updated with evolving CRO strategies. This collaborative and data-driven environment helps CRO specialists implement effective solutions that drive business growth.

How to become a conversion rate optimization specialist?

To become a conversion rate optimization (CRO) specialist, develop skills in data analysis, user experience design, and A/B testing, often through online courses or certifications. Gaining experience with analytics tools like Google Analytics and testing platforms such as Optimizely enhances your expertise, and building a portfolio of successful projects can improve job prospects.

What does a conversion rate optimizer do?

A conversion rate optimizer analyzes website data and user behavior to identify ways to increase the percentage of visitors who complete desired actions, such as making a purchase or signing up. They use tools like A/B testing and analytics platforms to implement and measure improvements, often collaborating with designers and marketers to enhance user experience and maximize conversions.

The Transplant Operations Manager provides operational leadership for all outpatient components of the transplant program, including pre-transplant evaluation, waitlist management, and post-transplant follow-up care. This role is responsible for optimizing clinic operations, improving patient access and throughput, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving high-quality, patient-centered outcomes across the ambulatory transplant continuum.

Ambulatory Operations & Clinic Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of transplant outpatient clinics across all phases (referral/intake, evaluation, waitlist, and post-transplant care).
  • Optimize clinic templates, scheduling workflows, and provider utilization to improve access and reduce cycle times.
  • Manage clinic capacity, no-show rates, and throughput to support timely evaluations and follow-up care.
  • Partner with centralized access teams to streamline referrals, insurance clearance, and patient onboarding.

Access & Patient Flow

  • Lead initiatives to improve time from referral to evaluation and time to listing.
  • Monitor and improve patient flow across multidisciplinary visits (coordinators, providers, diagnostics, social work, financial counseling).
  • Identify and remove barriers to care, including logistical, financial, and health equity challenges.
  • Ensure seamless transitions between inpatient and ambulatory care settings.

Data & Performance Management

  • Track and report key ambulatory KPIs (e.g., referral conversion rates, time to evaluation/listing, clinic access, no-show rates, post-transplant follow-up compliance).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to inform operational decision-making.
  • Use data analytics to identify performance gaps and implement targeted improvements.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Partner with Transplant Director and finance on ambulatory budgets, staffing models, and clinic productivity.
  • Monitor reimbursement and outpatient revenue cycle performance (e.g., authorization, billing, collections).
  • Ensure efficient resource utilization while maintaining high-quality care.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and support ambulatory transplant staff, including managed care coordinators, medical assistants, schedulers, and administrative personnel.
  • Foster strong interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, APPs, nursing, social work, nutrition, pharmacy, and financial coordinators.
  • Drive staff engagement, professional development, and performance management.

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or related field).
  • 5–8+ years of healthcare operations experience, with a strong emphasis on ambulatory services.

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

  • Strong knowledge of ambulatory operations, scheduling optimization, and access management.
  • Familiarity with transplant regulatory requirements (UNOS/OPTN/CMS).
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Financial acumen in outpatient operations and reimbursement.

  • Master’s degree preferred (MHA, MBA, MPH, or similar).
  • Experience in transplant services or complex specialty care programs preferred.
  • Proven experience improving clinic access, throughput, and patient flow.
  • Experience in transplant or specialty ambulatory program management.
  • Experience with EMR systems and transplant reporting tools (e.g., EPIC, UNet).

Primarily located at OHSU Marquam Hill campus and CHH. May require occasional flexibility for clinic coverage and program needs.

Schedule will be primarily Monday-Friday during business hours, but flexibility in schedule will be dependent on program needs.
