Description
The Department of Communication & Digital Media at Simpson University invites applications for a fulltime Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication and Digital Media. The faculty member will teach in-person courses that may include Oral Communication, Small Group, Communication Theory, Public Relations, Media & Culture, Communication Ethics, Nonverbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Media Writing, Sports Communication, Advanced Public Communication, Communication & Organizational Leadership, and Communicating Cross Culturally. Depending on candidate's strengths, other courses may be taught including Argumentation & Debate, Philosophy & Critical Thought, Convergent Media, and Newspaper Practicum. A commitment to the integration of faith into teaching, scholarship, and service at a Christian liberal arts institution is an essential quality of Simpson University faculty.
Qualifications:
    • Terminal degree in Communication, Digital Media, or a related discipline. Master's degree considered.
    • Evidence of teaching excellence utilizing a variety of teaching modalities.
    • Experience working with a diverse student population and a commitment to inclusion and belonging.
    • A personal commitment to Christ and an ability to integrate faith into teaching, scholarship and service at a Christian liberal arts institution.
    • A promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.

Essential Functions:
    • Teach 12 units of undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester.
    • Prepare and teach undergraduate introductory and upper-level communication and digital media courses
    • Utilize Canvas for course management and delivery of content.
    • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the communication and digital media major.
    • Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment for degree program, and student recruitment.
    • Serve on faculty committees
    • Attend department meetings and professional development activities
    • Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.
