About this Opportunity:

The Controls Hardware Engineer II will be responsible for designing custom control solutions for many diverse industries throughout the country. This role is primarily responsible for the design and overall quality of the chosen components.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.


· Develop the electrical diagrams to include power distribution, magnetics, I/O, HMI, electrical panels, motor control circuits, safety circuits, etc.

· Design control panel layouts.

· Size components in panel(s) and generate BOM (Bill of Materials).

· Calculate disconnect, transformers, power supplies, heat, SCCR.

· Build relationships and work with customers, project managers, engineering, quality, purchasing and vendors per project.

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements listed in each Qualifications subsection.


EDUCATION:

· Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience.


EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of seven to ten years of industry experience.

· Strong background in electrical controls hardware design.


SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Knowledgeable in the application of electrical controls, design and build practices used in industrial automation.

· Experienced in creating hardware design schematics, panel layout and bill of materials in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or Eplan.

· Proven experience in PLC and/pr servo system design using Bosch-Rexroth, Rockwell or Siemens architecture.

· Knowledge of NEC & UL508A Standards is required (build practices and component sections).

· Ability to translate customer SOW’s or line ups into manageable system designs or build instructions.

· Ability to perform basic controls calculations, check hardware designs and prepare BOM release documents.

· Realization of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable hardware solutions.

· Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems.

· Team-oriented person with the ability and desire to monitor, motivate, and train staff members.

· Wiring schematic capabilities (PLC, Safety PLC, Servo Systems, E-Stop, Light Screens and Power Circuits).

· Work with minimal supervision and perform all required normal engineering calculations associated with this type of hardware design.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is primarily sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting or standing to perform the work. There may be some movement from area to area to transport items weighing no more than 15 pounds. Physical tasks include walking, grasping, carrying, lifting, assembling, listening, writing, speaking, and traveling.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing and general office environment. Work outside normal business hours are possible.


TRAVEL: Some Travel may be required.
