Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide part-time financial leadership for a construction and contractor business in Eugene, Oregon. This Contract position will focus on strengthening financial processes, supporting higher-level planning, and offering hands-on guidance where the existing team would benefit from added strategic oversight.


Responsibilities:

• Provide financial direction that helps leadership make informed business decisions and improve overall planning.

• Design and refine accounting workflows to create stronger structure, consistency, and control across core finance activities.

• Support periodic close cycles by guiding month-end tasks, account reviews, and year-end reconciliation efforts.

• Evaluate current financial procedures and recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.

• Use QuickBooks Online and Excel to analyze financial information, organize reporting, and support decision-making.

• Review pricing data and related financial trends to help the business assess profitability and planning priorities.

• Partner with internal staff to strengthen accounting practices while building on the team’s existing capabilities.

• Demonstrated experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close activities, reconciliations, and the overall accounting close process.
• Solid understanding of accounting procedures and internal financial controls.
• Hands-on experience working with QuickBooks Online in a business environment.
