About the role:

Fermented Food Holdings Inc. is seeking a Plant Controller for our Bear Creek, WI facility. Reporting directly to the CFO and serving as the site's senior finance leader, this position is responsible for overseeing plant accounting, cost management, and forecasting activities. The Plant Controller will act as a key business partner to operations while supporting consolidated financial reporting across the organization.

What You Can Expect:

  • Serve as the finance leader at our core manufacturing facility, reporting directly to the CFO and operating with a high degree of autonomy across a broad range of finance and accounting responsibilities
  • Partner closely with the Plant Manager and operations team, providing financial leadership, accounting oversight, and strategic guidance to support business performance
  • Gain visibility beyond the plant through participation in consolidated company reporting and special projects led by the CFO

Accountable For:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Own the plant's annual operating budget and monthly rolling forecast, from assumption-building with operations leadership through submission to the CFO
  • Deliver monthly variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year, with quantified drivers and root-cause explanation
  • Build and maintain the financial models supporting capacity, staffing, make-vs-buy, capex, and pricing decisions, and to track cost savings and productivity
  • Partner directly with plant and operations leadership to identify opportunities for improved visibility, cost savings, and better financial and operational performance

Cost Accounting

  • Maintain the standard cost system, including the annual cost roll, labor and overhead rate development, BOM/routing accuracy, and inventory valuation
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (purchase price, material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap) and drive corrective action with operations

Close and Company Reporting

  • Execute plant month-end and year-end close independently, including accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Partner with corporate accounting to maintain fixed asset records, including additions, transfers, disposals, and construction in progress
  • Contribute to consolidated company reporting and ad hoc analysis in direct partnership with the CFO and corporate FP&A team

Required Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in finance and accounting, including 3+ years in manufacturing finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • ERP System experience (NetSuite a plus)
  • P&L experience and knowledge of key financial and accounting concepts
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and using analytics
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
