Position Overview:

The Controller is a critical financial leader at Horwitz, responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting functions, driving financial accuracy, and informing strategic decisions that support long-term growth. This individualexceedsfinancial integrity, operational efficiency, and team development, and plays a pivotal role in managing internal controls, budgeting, and reporting. These responsibilitiesgenerally describethe nature of the position and may not be all inclusive:

  • Direct all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with clarity and insights to support executive decision-making.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Design andmaintaininternal control systems to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy in financial records, and support audit readiness.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align financial strategies with company goals, ensuring sound planning and resource allocation.
  • Oversee and manage organizational cash flow tomaintainoptimalliquidity and financial health.
  • Coordinate with external partners including auditors, tax advisors, and banking institutions to ensure compliance andfacilitateclean audit outcomes.
  • Conduct Work-in-Progress (WIP) analyses to ensure proper revenue recognition and project costing.
  • Leverage COINS accounting software to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and increase financial visibility across the organization.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Mentor and support accounting team members to achieve high standards of performance and professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum of 2 years in a Controller capacity or 5+ years in an Accounting Manager capacity.
  • Construction or building services industry experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in managing audits, financial reporting, and WIP schedules.
