Mission Systems San Diego is seeking a Production Controller who will support production control by maintaining schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products. This role compiles records concerning quantity and type of material received, shipped, in stock/inventory, and in production, and expedites the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules.
The Production Controller helps identify potential and actual material shortages and initiates actions to correct these deficiencies. Using knowledge of production and procurement, this role alerts appropriate stakeholders to potential problems and recommends remedial actions.
This position is on-site daily on a 9/80 schedule.
The ideal candidate will be willing to work 1st shift with flexibility to work at either Spectrum Center or Rancho Carmel, depending on business needs.
What you get to do:
  • Track inventory levels and monitor inventory in WIP, On-Hold, MRB, and In-Inspection locations.
  • Work with Material Planning to ensure materials are ordered in time to support Scheduling and Operations needs.
  • Partner closely with shop floor supervisors to optimize WIP flow.
  • Issues material through SAP/S4 Hana & EWI systems.
  • Process Parts Replacement Requisitions through SAP/S4 Hana & EWI systems.
  • Perform higher-level work order releases through SAP/S4 Hana & EWI systems.
  • Handle scrap material and ensure proper disposition.
  • Deliver hardware to the next operation/step in the process.
  • Perform problem solving and research related to material and product flow.
  • Receive Sustainment Modules and move them into WIP for repairs.
  • Ability to spend approximately 80% of time on the shop floor coordinating and controlling product flow and 20% of time updating systems to ensure accurate records.
  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous and repetitive physical work, including bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working overhead.
  • Be a strong team player with effective communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
  • Experience in material expediting or production/material control.
  • Ability to utilize SAP/S4HANA and EWI (Solumina) systems to track parts through production, meet customer demand, and set priorities for Work In Process (WIP).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain SAP access.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in material expediting in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with SAP/S4HANA and EWI (Solumina).

Primary Level Salary Range: $43,000.00 - $72,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
