Job description

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant to work in the Cardiac Surgery Professional Services. This is a full-time position that promotes a work/life balance. Position consists of a hybrid schedule – five 8hr shifts or 12 hr day/night shifts for rotating 24/7 coverage, and rotating OR call.
 
As a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant, duties and responsibilities include:
  • Perform endoscopic vein harvest. Endoscopic radial artery harvest experience is a plus.
  • Assist cardiac surgeon in operating room procedures.
  • Conduct history and physical examinations.
  • Perform consultations.
  • Provide perioperative patient management including ICU and step-down management.
  • Provide postoperative office patient management.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other members of the medical staff.
  • Screen patient to determine need for urgent medical attention.
  • Prepare patients preoperatively for surgery.
  • Evaluate need to changes in patient therapy.
  • Write orders and modifies treatment plans.
  • Educate and counsel patients and patient families on health and disease.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant Program and board certification as a Physician Assistant. 
  • Licensure or license eligible for Registered Physician Assistant in Delaware.  
  • Certified or eligible for certification by National Commission of Physician Assistants.  
  • Apply for and receive an RXPA number which permits one to prescribe non-controlled substances. 
  • Apply for and receive DEA number to prescribe controlled substances. 
  • ACLS required
  • Two years of experience, cardiac surgery experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.Annual Compensation Range $129,548.00 - $182,612.00This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
