Job description

Job Purpose
Responsible for safely operating an MCFI Food Service vehicle (van or box truck) to deliver meals and supplies to customers and providing courteous and efficient service to customers at all times.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Operate Food Service vehicles over designated routes or in response to supervisor instructions.
  2. Promptly, accurately and completely comply with all driver record keeping requirements that includes using Route Boss, a route planning and tracking tool.
  3. Provide superior customer service to delivery recipients, which includes assisting with food service responsibilities (e.g. preparing and serving meals).
  4. Ensure that all items on the production sheet and supply order form are delivered and signed for.
  5. Provide minor vehicle maintenance when needed (checking fluid levels and tire pressure plus specified interval testing of all vehicle safety equipment and other approved tasks).
  6. Clean vehicles weekly, and maintain the daily sanitation and interior/exterior appearance of the vehicles.
  7. Clean the dock, production and service areas as assigned.
  8. Participate in end-of-day clean up including dishwashing and cleaning/sanitizing of equipment and hot boxes.
  9. Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, which includes wearing a clean and proper uniform.
  10. Practice and promote food and physical safety in the workplace.
  11. Work effectively as a member of the Food Service team (e.g. stocking and rotating products for storerooms/coolers/freezers, maintaining kitchen equipment, counting inventory, etc.).
  12. Readily adjust to variable working conditions including adverse weather, traffic and road construction, trip changes, etc.
  13. Communicate any issues related to daily assignments to the supervisor.
  14. Attend departmental and agency-wide safety briefings and training sessions as required.
  15. Present a positive public image of the Food & Nutrition Services Department and MCFI, and maintain confidentiality.
  16. Participate in department quality planning activities (e.g. continuous improvement, Logic models, performance metrics, etc.).

Required Technical Skills, Experience, Education, and Credentials
  1. Minimum age 18 years.
  2. Current Wisconsin Driver License, without limitations that are incompatible with duties and responsibilities, and a motor vehicle record acceptable to program and/or contractual requirements.
  3. Pass a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, TB test and background check.
  4. Ability to successfully complete all required driver/customer service representative trainings within 90 days of hire to include Defensive Driving, operation of Route Boss GPS system, customer service modules and ServSafe Manager certification. ServSafe certification is required for Driver 2 position.
  5. Ability to serve meals according to Food Safety Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
  6. Able to respond to emergency situations in accordance with training received.
  7. Able to understand and follow written and verbal directions, and speak and write in a clear concise manner.
  8. Accurately and promptly communicate customer concerns to designated Food Service staff
  9. Ability to effectively utilize Route Boss system for navigation and accountability purposes

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience or must do to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
  1. Must be able to frequently move, transport, position, push/pull and/or lift objects or equipment weighting at least 70 pounds repetitively (100 pounds intermittently) in a variety of situations, including using stairs or during inclement weather.
  2. This position may work in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments which may include various outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and fluctuating temperatures and the occasional use of stairs.
