Position Overview

As an Assistant Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for leading the projects Quality Control program including developing a project quality control plan, aligning procedures and practices with company policy, regulatory controls and contractual requirements while monitoring for effectiveness and making recommendations for improvement.

District Overview

Location

This position will be worked on a 19 & 9 rotational schedule, meaning 19 days at work and 9 days off. The position will be worked on WMI's dredging projects spanning the eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast of America.

Responsibilities

   Act as Quality Control Manager at the work site to implement and manage the project specific Contractor Quality Control Plan

   Developing project specific quality control plans
   Implement the three-phase control system
   Verify compliance with the Jobsite Safety Plan and EM-385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual
   Document daily construction activities, deficiencies, and events by completing a Daily Construction Report for each contract work performed
   Monitor the Testing/Inspection Schedule to ensure that all testing required by the specifications is performed and the results are acceptable
   Conduct completion inspection of work and develop a "punch list" of items not in conformance with the Contract requirements
   Verify that Weeks Marine is in compliance with the Contract Documents by requiring the Contractor's Independent Material Testing Laboratory to perform additional tests as required by the Specifications
   Witness and review tests, test reports and certifications for conformance with the Contract Documents
   Inspect work prior to covering or concealing work
   Review working and as-built drawings being maintained for completeness and accuracy
   Provide copies of all test results with the Daily Quality Control Report
   Maintain the submittal process and update the Submittal Register
   Verify subcontracted Inspectors and Tester Certifications
   Hold regular meetings with clients and act as communication hub between project team and client. 
    Other duties as required

Qualifications
  • The Quality Control Manager must possess a degree in Construction Management or a STEM field and have a minimum of three (3) years of construction experience related to government contracts.
    • Alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in related construction project work, with a preference for marine projects, is acceptable.
  • Need to be able to acquire the certification for the "Construction Quality Management for Contractors" course taught by the Corps of Engineers or Naval Facilities Engineering Command
  • Night Shift work may be required 
  • Must be on-site at all times during construction
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with owner's representatives, Superintendent, Engineer staff and subcontrators 
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives 
  • Solid negotiation skills to resolve any potential conflicts that may arise during the duration of the contract
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrate commitment to ethics and integrity 
  • Must be able to pass Federal background check for base access
