Job description

Join a dedicated team in Tempe, AZ, focused on maintaining the reliability and performance of mission-critical data center environments. As a Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation of advanced mechanical systems that support essential infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to lead and mentor a team, work with state-of-the-art HVAC technologies, and contribute to the seamless functioning of critical systems. Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation, maintenance, service, and operation of mission-critical mechanical equipment within a data center environment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on a variety of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and water pumps.
  • Work with pneumatic, direct digital controls (DDC), and variable frequency drive (VFD) controls, as well as HVAC air distribution systems such as air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and fans.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as needed to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets established quality and safety standards.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and training to junior technicians, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Respond to after-hours and on-call assignments as required to maintain continuous system operation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
  • Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
  • Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification required.
  • Current/active Arizona Journeyman HVAC license required.
  • OSHA Certification required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
  • Ability to pass any required client background checks or training.
