Join a dedicated team supporting critical infrastructure as a Critical Systems Technician II, Battery, based in Barker, NY. This role is essential in ensuring the reliability and performance of battery systems that support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for our clients. The position offers hands-on experience with battery installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities
  • Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
  • Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
  • Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and interact professionally with customers.
  • Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
  • Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
  • Interpret schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
  • Learn and apply procedures for disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing spill containment systems.
  • Collect and enter data from preventive maintenance services using a laptop computer.
  • Gain experience in troubleshooting, routine, and emergency maintenance of DC battery systems with increasing independence.
  • Assist in warehouse operations as required.
  • Travel approximately 50% or more to customer sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or willingness to learn basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
  • Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to use digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment (training provided).
  • Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE (training provided).
  • Competency in connecting battery strings in series, parallel, and series-parallel configurations (or willingness to learn).
  • Ability to interpret torque values, apply torque-marking, and visually inspect battery installations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
