Job Description
The Department of Computational, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks applications from qualified candidates, with a passion for teaching and scholarship, for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for the Cyber Engineering Technology & Computer Science programs. Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, participation in grant writing and funded research projects, and ability to collaborate with colleagues on curricular and programmatic issues is expected. Growth of the two master's programs in Cybersecurity and Computer Science is a priority for the university. The base teaching load at A&M-SA for Assistant Professors is 3/3. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.
A&M-SA is committed to excellence. The Department provides a rich educational experience for students interested in computer science, cybersecurity, engineering technology, and mathematics. We offer bachelor's degree programs in these disciplines as also support courses in physics for STEM majors. In addition, we offer two master's degree programs, one each in Cybersecurity and Computer Science. Our students enjoy learning in person and in online/hybrid courses in high-tech classrooms. We emphasize hands-on experiential learning and critical thinking, and the participation of students in research under our faculty's mentorship. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses primarily in cyber engineering technology and computer science while available to teach in the graduate programs in computer science and cybersecurity.
  • Contribute to impactful research primarily in cybersecurity and AI security.
  • Contribute to the service mission of the university.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Ph.D. degree from a regionally accredited institution in technical areas of Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. ABD will be considered if the requirements for the Ph.D. degree are completed before the appointment begins (degree conferral may happen later).
  • Record of peer reviewed scholarly work related to cybersecurity, AI security and interdisciplinary areas.
  • Demonstration of interaction and communication with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Cyber Engineering Technology, Computer Science and Cybersecurity, teaching at the university level (Graduate Teaching Assistant Experience in these areas will be considered).

In the cover letter please elaborate on the following topics:
  • Engagement with, and competence in teaching Cyber Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and related Cyber Engineering courses.
  • Agenda for scholarship in cybersecurity, including AI security and the potential for independent research and grant writing.

  • Highlights of work history, professional engagement, and relevant community engagement contribution to the field of cyber engineering.
