Job description

As a Process Control Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for designing, maintaining, and upgrading process control, automation, and safety systems within PPG's manufacturing facility located in Circleville, Ohio. This facility is an integral part of PPG's global paint and coatings manufacturing structure, proving technically advanced coatings to PPG's global customers. This position will be located at the Circleville, OH facility and report to the Process Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide process control systems and instrumentation technical leadership to support the sites' 24/5 and 24/7 operations.
  • Identify and oversee continuous improvement opportunities with electrical and control systems, including process safety interlocks, communications with batch servers, and process automation software. Projects will support plant operating efficiency, safety improvements, and energy conservation/Sustainability strategies.
  • Design, manage, and troubleshoot process control and automation capital expansion projects. Satisfy projects' functional, budgetary, and timeline requirements.
  • Provide field supervision of employees and contractors, improving labor relations, and leading inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop and modify project and special process documentation, including technical writing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and training documentation.
  • Develop and implement other information systems using process data, ie. MES, ERP interaction, and data historian systems.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience and certifications.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming, process instrumentation in an industrial environment, or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with GE Proficy iFix SCADA, Plant PAX, HMI, and historian software is a plus.
  • Experience reading and interpreting P&ID's and electrical drawings.
