Cardiac OR RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)

Location: Strong Memorial Hospital
Position Type: Travel/Contract RN
Openings: 2
Start Date: 07/20/2026
Shift: Primarily weekdays, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM and 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM, with on-call responsibilities based on unit needs

Position Summary

Strong memorial hospital is seeking experienced Cardiac OR RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) professionals to join its surgical services team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience assisting in cardiac surgical procedures and providing high-quality perioperative patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as a Registered Nurse First Assistant during cardiac surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during complex cardiovascular operations.
  • Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care.
  • Monitor patient status and respond appropriately during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety standards are met.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary surgical teams.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac RNFA experience.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Current AHA ACLS Certification.
  • CNOR Certification required.
  • Strong Telemetry experience.
  • Experience in Cardiac Operating Room settings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in high-acuity cardiac surgical programs.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular procedures and surgical techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
