Summary/Objective:

The Vice President, Infrastructure & Operations (VP I&O) leads the credit union's technology infrastructure, end-user computing, and IT operations functions to deliver secure, resilient, and reliable services for members and employees. This role is accountable for day-to-day operational excellence across data center and cloud platforms, networks, systems administration, identity and access management, endpoint services, and IT service management (ITIL) practices. The VP I&O ensures technology operations meet regulatory expectations and business requirements through strong governance, risk management, vendor oversight, budgeting, and continuous improvement. This position partners closely with Information Security, Application/Business Systems, and business leaders to enable growth, improve member experience, and maintain high availability and recoverability of critical services.

Essential Functions include:
  • Infrastructure & Operations Leadership: Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for all infrastructure and IT operations functions, including on-prem and cloud platforms, network services, systems administration, identity and access management, endpoint computing, and collaboration tooling. Establish multi-year roadmaps aligned to business strategy; define operating models, service ownership, and performance expectations; and ensure consistent delivery of secure, reliable technology services.
  • IT Service Management & Reliability: Own and mature ITIL-based service management practices (incident, problem, change, request, asset/configuration) to ensure stable operations and high service availability. Define and monitor service-level objectives, operational metrics, and dashboards; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions; and drive continuous improvement to reduce outages, improve mean time to restore, and enhance user/member experience.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery: Ensure the recoverability and resiliency of critical services through robust backup, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies. Maintain and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans; coordinate cross-functional exercises and remediation; ensure RTO/RPO alignment with business requirements; and report readiness, risks, and improvements to executive leadership and governance bodies.
  • Standards, Lifecycle & Vulnerability Remediation: Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, configuration baselines, and lifecycle management practices across servers, network devices, endpoints, and cloud services. Partner with Information Security to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities; ensure patching and configuration compliance; manage technology refresh cycles; and reduce operational risk through disciplined governance and documentation.
  • Financial Management & Optimization: Develop and manage the infrastructure and operations budget, including personnel, hardware/software, cloud consumption, and managed services. Forecast and track spend; identify cost-optimization opportunities (capacity planning, licensing, vendor consolidation); and ensure investments deliver measurable value while maintaining required performance, security, and resiliency.
  • Vendor & Managed Services Oversight: Lead third-party relationships supporting infrastructure and operations, including telecommunications, cloud providers, MSPs, hardware/software vendors, and support partners. Negotiate contracts and SLAs, manage performance and escalations, ensure vendor risk and due diligence requirements are met, and drive accountability for delivery, security, and compliance outcomes.
  • People Leadership & Workforce Readiness: Build, lead, and develop high-performing infrastructure and operations teams. Set clear goals, coach and mentor leaders and individual contributors, and ensure appropriate staffing and on-call/coverage models. Promote a culture of accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement; support training and succession planning; and lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new technologies and processes.
