Job description

Job Title: Electric Project Manager
Location: Valparaiso, IN
Duration: 1-Year Contract (with possible extensions)
Rate: $50 - $70/hr (W2)
Travel: 20-40% (Valid Driver's License required)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electric Project Manager to lead distribution and transmission electric projects from planning through construction and close-out. This role is responsible for managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, permitting, procurement, contractor coordination, and in-service facilitation while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective project delivery.
The ideal candidate brings strong electrical construction project management experience, budget and schedule control expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, construction management, environmental, supply chain, and municipal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing electrical and controls construction-related projects
  • 3+ years of experience managing project budgets and schedules
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification
  • Knowledge of electric system design and operations including construction and contract management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and construction scheduling software
  • Experience with contract administration and bid management

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
  • Manage planning, estimating, permitting, procurement, contractor selection, construction monitoring, and project close-out for electric distribution and transmission projects.
  • Establish scope, schedule, and cost baselines and apply structured change management when deviations occur.
  • Monitor and communicate progress against milestones, budget forecasts, material management, and land service requirements.

Budget, Schedule & Risk Management
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Provide timely and accurate schedule updates and invoicing oversight.
  • Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, reliably, within budget, and on schedule.

Construction & Field Coordination
  • Partner with Construction Management to ensure safe, efficient, and quality construction aligned with standards and policies.
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and agreements.
  • Facilitate in-service transitions and final project close-out.

Stakeholder & Contract Management
  • Collaborate with engineers, environmental teams, supply chain, municipalities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Promote strong working relationships with local authorities and external partners.
  • Manage and interpret project contracts and support bid processes.
  • Provide written and verbal updates to leadership and project teams.
