To thrive as a Contract Software Engineering Manager, you need strong leadership abilities, deep software development knowledge, and experience managing engineering teams, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira or Trello), cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), and relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) is often required. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and conflict-resolution skills help build trust and drive team performance in diverse, dynamic environments. • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners, ensuring alignment with internal engineering standards

  • Oversee resource planning, financial management, and capacity planning to support delivery objectives

  • Drive hiring, mentoring, and career development for engineers to build deep domain expertise in specialized areas such as observability, platform engineering, and cloud technologies

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience

  • 2 years of leading engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale applications experience

  • 4 years of experience with modern engineering practices such as Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud platforms

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience leading cloud modernization and migration initiatives (e.g. OpenShift, Kubernetes, microservices architecture)

  • Strong knowledge of observability platforms (such as Dynatrace, and Splunk) and monitoring, and reliability engineering practices experience

  • Experience in Digital Onboarding, customer-facing platforms, or high-availability transaction systems

  • Proven ability to drive engineering transformation initiatives including DevOps automation and platform standardization

  • Strong background in API-driven architecture and integration patterns

  • Experience managing highly regulated environments with strong focus on risk and security compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to work in a hybrid or onsite model per Wells Fargo policy

  • Lead teams across distributed locations and time zones

  • Participate in production support and incident management escalation as required

  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, delivery quality, and operational excellence

  • Foster a culture aligned with Wells Fargo values, including inclusion, accountability, and innovation
