Position Title: Production Scheduler/Buyer FLSA Classification: Exempt (Dept 527)

Reports To: Director of Supply Chain


JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:

The Production Scheduler/Buyer is responsible for generating the facility production plan, ensuring it meets customer demand efficiently, maintaining minimal inventory levels and procuring necessary materials to support the production plan. In this role, the production scheduler/buyer will be responsible for providing the plant with a monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. Additionally, this role is responsible for placing purchase orders, maintaining professional relationships with suppliers, adhering to company requirements, and meeting critical deadlines to foster customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Work triggers in AS400 ERP system to successfully schedule the plant production and purchasing of goods.
  • Create daily production schedules in support of multiple shifts and multiple lines; weekend as needed.
  • Determines the impact of daily customer orders and adjusts the daily production schedule to ensure maximum order fulfillment.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of material through the production cycle.
  • Establish effective dates for Engineering Changes (ECO) with cross-functional teams.
  • Provides timely, complete, and concise communication to order management and/or production personnel regarding schedule changes or revisions that have immediate or long-range impact.
  • Maintains Kanban system (if applicable) and adjusts, as necessary, based on production requirements.
  • Engage and maintain contact with production and/or order management or sales personnel, supply chain, and engineering to review and resolve schedule difficulties, new product releases, and customer needs.
  • Support physical inventory by establishing training programs and providing training. Monitor the process and provide assistance as needed and perform the inventory comparisons required in order to close out the inventory.
  • Understand, adhere, and demonstrate to the company's commitment to quality and safety.
  • Interface positively with suppliers, internal customers, manufacturing personnel, quality, shipping/receiving, and accounts payable to foster highest customer satisfaction while adhering to company requirements and critical deadlines.
  • Place purchase orders, follow up on past due order status, and report out to eliminate shortages and down time in production.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with specifications, terms, conditions, and requirements of the purchase order and contract and make recommendations when non-compliance occurs
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the organization.

Competencies:

  • Exceptional computer skills using INFOR XA (AS400) ERP system, Microsoft products such as Excel, Outlook, and data analytics tools.
  • Expert Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • English and Spanish language is helpful.
  • Exceptional analytical and planning skills.
  • Exceptional ability to identify issues and research data for probable root cause and implementation of slid corrective actions solving the problem.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A.S. in Business Administration, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, and similar, or 6-8 years recent relevant experience.
  • Expert skills in AS400 ERP System.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, supply chain, management, or related field.
  • 3-5years of experience in a supply chain role
  • Experience in understanding purchasing contracts, scheduling, and planning.
  • Familiar with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
