Job description

Job Description | San Diego, California
Are you passionate about building solutions that will propel Resmed's Digital Healthcare products into the next decade? Do you want to help shape a platform that is reimagining connected healthcare? Are you experienced in delivering cloud-native services that meet high quality standards? Join a high-performing team delivering a patient management platform that empowers healthcare professionals to deliver better care worldwide.
Based in San Diego, our high-performing engineering team within Resmed's Sleep Care Solutions organization is advancing digital solutions that manage, monitor, and support patients' health needs in more than 140 countries.
About The Team:
We are a small cross-functional product team with a broad range of responsibilities and duties. We collaborate with product managers, UX and other development teams globally across Resmed. We're passionate about solving problems across the entire software development lifecycle - whether that's investigating new technologies, frameworks and cloud services, developing new features, improving our CI/CD pipelines and test automation, finding new ways of leveraging AI or figuring out how to better automate our release process. We own features from development all the way through to production. We're always up for a challenge and love learning new things!
What We Are Looking For:
We're looking for a well rounded engineer who is confident working on the frontend, backend as well as be ready to dive in and work on a variety of other tasks including dev-ops and infrastructure related tasks. You should be comfortable working with AI tools such as Github Copilot in your day to day work. You'll be comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team and will be willing to contribute to discussions and share your experience and ideas with the team. You will sometimes be working with cross functional teams across different time zones (primarily Sydney, Australia and Halifax, Canada).
Responsibilities include:
  • Expanding on the existing frameworks and services to implement new features and innovate on our software products
  • Ownership of feature projects that involve designing and architecting new microservices and micro-frontends. (Our application is a micro-frontend architecture built on React)
  • Working with others to design, implement and support our Kubernetes infrastructure and services
  • Extending our automated unit testing, integration testing frameworks, contract testing and tooling
  • Implement security and performance improvements to our services
  • Production support (occasionally)

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience delivering production features with an object-oriented language (Java preferred).
  • Experience delivering production features with a Web Application Framework (React preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid ability in writing clean, maintainable code while following good engineering practices.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience writing automated unit, e2e, integration and contract tests.
  • Experience working with task management tools such as Jira
  • Experience working with Monitoring tools such as Datadog
  • Experience coding with AI tools
  • Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent

Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Languages: Java, Typescript
  • Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) experience
  • Frameworks: Spring Boot, React
  • Version control system: Github
  • Testing: Jest, Playwright, JUnit
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
  • CI/CD and automation tools and infrastructure - Github Actions
  • Interest in digital health and medical devices
  • Experience with microservice and micro-frontend architectures

We are shaping the future at ResMed, and we recognize the need to build on and broaden our existing skills and continue to attract and retain the world's best talent. We work hard to offer holistic benefits packages, provide flexible work arrangements, cultivate a workforce culture that allows employees to grow personally and professionally, and deliver competitive salaries to our team members. Employees receive Flexible Time Off (FTO), 11 paid holidays plus 3 floating days and are eligible for 14 weeks of primary caregiver or two weeks of secondary caregiver leave when welcoming new family members.
Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate's geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.
At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is: $111,000 - $167,000.
