We are seeking Mixtec Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mixtec, a group of indigenous languages spoken primarily in Oaxaca, Puebla, and Guerrero, Mexico, is a rare but high-demand language often required in asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities

  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics standards.

  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Mixtec (any regional variety) and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, asylum, or NGO/government strongly preferred).
  • Cultural knowledge of indigenous Mexican communities.
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive pay: $30–38/hour (rare-language premium).
  • Remote work via secure USCIS-approved systems.
  • Paid training and professional development.
  • Steady assignments under a federal contract.
  • Opportunities for advancement in quality assurance or linguist leadership.
How to Apply
