Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Controls we are looking for a Project Controls Specialist to support our work across the United States.
What You'll Do Here:
Project Controls Systems & Tools
  • Provides project control support (communication, training) to estimating and construction teams to ensure project controls systems are properly implemented and utilized on the project
  • Participate in developing, establishing and maintaining project cost / control systems
  • Assist with evaluating and documenting processes and procedures to be followed by project teams.

Project Setup
  • Provide support in the review of tenders, proposals and contracts to ensure all commercial terms and project controls reporting requirements (ie. Invoicing, reporting) are fulfilled during project setup
  • Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and project controls requirements
  • Assist the project team in setting up the project WBS, project cost codes and project baseline budget

Scheduling
  • Provides input into the production of a detailed, resource-loaded project schedule

Progress & Cost Tracking
  • Generate all required project status and forecast reporting for management and client requirements
  • Review and analyze reporting (ie progress, productivity, scheduling, costs, revenues, margin) with Lead or Manager as well as the project team, suggesting corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity
  • Provide support to project team to ensure understanding and proper use / implementation of the project cost structure
  • Prepare and update project cash flows as required throughout the project life-cycle

Scope & Change Management
  • Support the establishment of a change management system in compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's procedures
  • Provide support to project team on implementing and maintaining the prescribed change management procedures

Risk Management
  • Identify opportunities of improvement for management review and consideration

Communication
  • Collaborates with Estimators, Project Managers, Finance, Operations teams and Management teams
  • Communicates with external clients, client groups and partners, vendors and subcontractors as required

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Post secondary eduction in construction management, engineering technologist, or EIT.
  • 3-5 years of direct project controls experience.
  • Construction experience is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
