Multiple positions. The Quality Engineer will support work associated with the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) SMASS II contract located in Huntsville, ALRESPONSIBILITIES:Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and developing S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.Prepare, evaluate and provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related processes, procedures and manufacturing activities including implementation of procedures. Specifically with contractor manufacturing systems. Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) directorate organizational instructions and program specific requirements.Support the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.Develop/utilize tools to ensure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs/projects.Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and NC resolutions, test, failure investigations, RCCA analysis and other QE related functions.Develop Metrics as needed.Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED:This position has been posted at multiple levels (must meet minimum level indicated). Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or related field.Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.In lieu of degree: Candidates with 9+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.Knowledge of NASA S&MA requires manufacturing processes in support of the design and development of flight hardware.Possess a working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 quality management system requirements.Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets. Material Review Board (MRB) experience is absolutely critical to this role. Manufacturing and production work center experience required.DESIRED:Experience in an insight, risk-based, or COTs type contracts as well as compliance-based contract and services is highly desirable.Launch vehicle integration experience is highly desirable.Experience working with NASA/DoD flight hardware in a manufacturing and production environment.Integrated Product Team experience.PMP, or DAWIA Project Management Certification is desired. Design or process engineering experience highly desired. WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
