Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Med/Surg for a night shift position requiring float coverage across a multi-campus trauma system and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details
  • Medical Surgical unit within a multi-campus hospital system including a Level II trauma center, a Level IV trauma center, and two critical access hospitals
  • Care for patients with COPD, stroke, total joint replacement, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal
  • Night shift schedule working 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Required to work weekend shifts equating to one weekend per week of the contract
  • Float required to all North Campus locations including Redmond, Prineville, and Madras, each with differing shift times
  • May float within scope to any med/surg unit system-wide or serve as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, including the ED for boarding med/surg patients
  • No scheduled on-call shifts, though standby status may be required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active RN license (OR license required)
  • Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience may be considered as first-time travelers
  • Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Skills should include IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access, PICC line management, blood product administration, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
  • Experience with GI, GU/renal, and neurological/psychiatric care including bowel obstruction, CBI, CVA, and substance withdrawal preferred
  • Must have no employment gaps greater than 30 days within work history
  • Complete 7-year work history required, including clinical, non-clinical, and non-working periods
  • Two professional references required from positions held within the past year, with at least one from a manager
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care as a primary Med/Surg RN or as a 1:1 observer across multiple clinical departments and campus locations
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel consideration; local candidates are not accepted
  • Proof of address required for radius verification
  • RTO requests are limited to 7 days
  • Candidates who cancel an assignment with fewer than 14 days' notice will be designated Do Not Return within the system
  • Orientation includes completion of annual specialty-specific training modules
  • First-time travelers may be considered only with 3-5 years of relevant experience
