Job description

Koniag Data Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Web UX/UI Developer and Designer to support KDS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. The position is remote.

Remote — Supporting USDA's Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) Information Technology Division (ITD), serving the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).

 

Koniag Data Solutions (KDS) is seeking a skilled Web UX/UI Developer and Designer to support our USDA customer under the MRP LSIT Infrastructure Services Modernization Support contract. This position supports Objective 13 of the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

The selected candidate will provide broad-spectrum user interface and user experience design services across multiple web platforms, including Drupal, SharePoint, Power Platform, and custom web applications. The role involves analyzing existing web content and usability, gathering stakeholder requirements, producing design plans and wireframes, and developing user interfaces that meet USDA and MRP branding standards. The candidate will also provide training and guidance to developers, site owners, and citizen developers.

This is a full-time (1 FTE), fully remote position. Work is performed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time, with a one-hour lunch break.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in UX/UI design and web development
  • Experience working in a federal government or government contracting environment is a plus

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in user interface design for web content management systems, web applications, and low-code/no-code platforms
  • Experience with CSS and common CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap and Tailwind
  • Hands-on experience with Drupal, SharePoint, and Microsoft Power Platform
  • Ability to perform usability analyses of existing sites and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Skill in interviewing stakeholders to identify and document user needs
  • Experience producing wireframes for new sites and applications
  • Ability to develop branding guides, reusable templates, and components that comply with organizational standards
  • Knowledge of and ability to assess compliance with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background investigation (NACIC)
  • Must obtain ITIL V4 Foundations Certification within 90 days of start date
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

 

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience designing within federal agency branding guidelines (e.g., USDA or similar)
  • Familiarity with custom web application development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience providing training and guidance to site owners, content managers, and citizen developers
  • Knowledge of low-code/no-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Apps or Power Pages
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms
  • Experience working in an Agile or similar project management environment
  • Knowledge of USDA mission, infrastructure, and IT services is a strong plus
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools, systems, and technologies independently
