Job description

We are partnering with a top employer in the Kansas City area to hire a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity in Olathe, KS. This role is less focused on day-to-day payroll processing and more focused on researching, troubleshooting, and resolving payroll-related issues as they arise. The ideal candidate will have previous payroll processing and/or timekeeping experience in a high-volume environment and enjoy problem-solving, investigating discrepancies, and providing support to employees and internal teams. Experience working for a large organization is highly preferred, and Workday experience is a plus.
This is a fully onsite opportunity in Olathe with an initial contract term of at least six months, though there is potential for extension and even permanent conversion. This role offers an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door with a highly regarded organization and could lead to future growth and advancement within the company.
Job Description
Join a large and fast-growing organization as a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will support over 1,000 employees with their payroll needs. Your responsibilities will include managing Workday operations and resolving payroll issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
  • Manage incoming payroll-related tickets.
  • Send paystubs or W2 forms to employees.
  • Investigate and resolve issues such as missing holiday pay.
  • Prepare payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Handle Payroll 101 responsibilities promptly.

Essential Skills
  • Expertise in payroll processing and payroll tax.
  • Experience with deductions and payroll accounting.
  • Proficiency in Workday ERP and data entry.
  • 3+ years experience processing payroll for a high volume of employees.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with timekeeping systems.
  • Associate's Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.

This is a Contract position based out of Olathe, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
