Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Analyst II, Contract Management and Analysis with experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

Analyst II, Contract Management and Analysis is responsible for translating commercial revenue contracts into accurate, executable billing structures and ensuring contracts are effectively managed throughout their lifecycle. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to apply judgment in situations where contract terms, business intent, and system capabilities do not fully align.

Success in this role depends on attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt in a changing environment, including evolving processes, systems, and levels of automation.

 

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

Contract Interpretation & Billing Execution

  • Review and interpret revenue contracts and determine the appropriate billing approach, including non-standard scenarios
  • Ensure accurate execution of financially relevant contract terms
  • Complete contract setup and charge configuration in the billing system, aligning system setup with contract intent

Billing Accuracy & Controls

  • Validate and maintain accuracy of contract fees within the billing system
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for billing changes to support audit requirements

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Track and manage key contractual dates, terms, and obligations to support ongoing compliance

Annual Escalations (Support Role)

  • Support execution of annual contract escalations during high-volume periods, including rate updates, calculations, and related activities

Non-Standard Billing & Issue Resolution

  • Collaborate with Accounting on non-automated or moderately complex billing scenarios requiring interpretation
  • Calculate and submit manual charges when automation is not feasible
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries, identifying root cause and implementing solutions

Systems & Process Awareness

  • Maintain working knowledge of billing and terminal systems to support resolution of billing scenarios
  • Support process and system improvements as needed

Development & Growth Expectations

    • Apply sound judgment when encountering unfamiliar or less-defined scenarios
    • Adapt to evolving processes, systems, and tools, including increased automation
    • Build cross-functional awareness over time, with opportunities to expand involvement as business needs evolve

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting contracts with a focus on financially relevant terms
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with inventory or billing systems preferred (e.g., Toptech or similar)
  • Petroleum industry knowledge preferred
