Job description

Job Title: Microbiologist Location: Hershey, PA, United States Type: Contract Compensation: Work Model: Onsite Hours: 40.0

Responsibilities

  • Prepare microbiological media for in-house food testing purposes
  • Maintain an inventory of microbiological media formats to support testing
  • Coordinate sample destruction after results entry
  • Maintain autoclave records for routine analysis preparation and destruction
  • Conduct microbiological analyses of food ingredients, finished products, and environmental swabs
  • Plate for hygiene indicators and perform molecular testing for food-borne pathogens
  • Assist in sample preparation and receiving as needed
  • Interpret and review microbiological data

Requirements

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or related field; or 5+ years of food microbiology work experience if no degree
  • 2-3 years of microbiology testing experience
  • Experience with media preparation, microbiological analyses, and data interpretation
  • Microbiology is the most important skill set; food science experience is a plus but not required
  • Ability to work on-site as required
  • Must be available for a 7-month contract
  • 1 interview via Microsoft Teams, followed by on-site interview if passed
