FlexTech High School - Shepherd is hiring a Full Time Math Teacher.
The FlexTech High School network is growing. FlexTech High Schools are small, personalized high schools that offer project-based curriculum and flexible scheduling. Watch this video to learn more about our unique approach to education.
We are looking for a dynamic educator to serve as a classroom teacher and join our wonderful team of educators. FlexTech teachers are passionate, adaptive, responsive, and innovative. Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Math teacher to join our team at FlexTech High School - Shepherd who wants to do school differently. This is not a traditional teaching role.
FlexTech is a small, project-based high school built around strong relationships, real-world learning, and student independence. Our teachers act as advisors, mentors, and collaborators. They guide students through personalized, competency-based learning rather than delivering one-size-fits-all instruction.
The ideal candidate believes all students can succeed in the right environment and is excited to design meaningful, project based learning experiences that connect to the real world. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to work closely with students in both small groups and one-on-one settings.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Deliver engaging mathematics instruction that promotes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world application.
  • Differentiate instruction and provide targeted support to help students build mathematical confidence and achieve academic success.
  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through a variety of methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, presentations, and formative assessments.
  • Establish and maintain effective classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
  • Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share instructional strategies, and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the school.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
  • Withstand a moderate noise level
  • Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
  • Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an appropriate secondary mathematics endorsement, or the ability to obtain certification in accordance with state requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary mathematics content and effective instructional practices.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, including learning management systems, Google Workspace, and other instructional technology tools.
