Job description

Commodity Derivatives Market Research & Product Development Analyst

We are seeking a motivated and analytically strong professional to join our Product Development team.

This role supports the research of relevant commodity markets as well as interacting with the design, and enhancement of Abaxx derivative contracts with the goal to create market relevant products to maximise robust price discovery and liquidity opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing research into global commodity markets, with focus on Precious Metals, Battery Materials, LNG, Power and environmental products.
  • Research physical and Listed/ OTC derivatives markets with focus on supply-demand fundamentals, seasonality, and macroeconomic drivers to offer product development opportunities and empower the commercial team.
  • Monitor competitive exchange offerings and global market developments to identify product gaps and innovation opportunities.
  • Engage with market participants across client segments to gather market feedback and insights.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing contract specifications, including delivery terms, settlement methodology, contract size, tick value, and expiry structure with full trade life cycle perspective.
  • Contribute to market supervisory activities in coordination with risk and regulatory teams.
  • Support the development of analytical reports, market commentary, and internal dashboards for product, sales, and strategy teams with the potential for external client and/or event presentations, if desired.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commodity markets, price reporting derivatives analysis, exchange operations, product management, or market research.
  • Solid understanding of exchange-traded derivatives and commodity market pricing.
  • Familiarity with exchange rulebooks, contract specifications, and product approval processes.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks applicable to derivatives markets (e.g., SFA, CEA, EMIR, MiFID II).
  • Experience using market data platforms such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and/or exchange analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and at least one analytical or programming tool (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
