What is contract legal research writing?

Contract legal research writing involves investigating, analyzing, and drafting legal documents related to contracts. Professionals in this role review case law, statutes, and legal precedents to ensure contracts are clear, enforceable, and comply with current laws. They may prepare memos, briefs, or contract clauses, providing legal clarity and recommendations to attorneys or clients. This work requires a strong understanding of contract law and excellent writing skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract legal research writer?

To thrive as a Contract Legal Research Writer, you need a solid understanding of legal principles, strong research and analytical abilities, and proficiency in legal writing, often supported by a law degree or paralegal certification. Familiarity with legal databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis and document management software is typically required. Outstanding attention to detail, time management, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly are vital soft skills. These competencies ensure the delivery of accurate, well-structured, and persuasive legal documents that support clients' or attorneys' needs.

What are some common challenges faced in contract legal research writing roles, and how can they be managed?

Managing these challenges requires strong organizational skills, staying current with legal databases and updates, and maintaining clear communication with supervising attorneys or clients. Proactively setting expectations, clarifying research objectives, and using reliable legal research tools can help ensure accuracy and efficiency in deliverables.

About Us

Parnall Law Firm is the most highly reviewed and largest personal injury firm in New Mexico, dedicated to client service and results.

  • Top Culture: "Best Place to Work" and "Top Workplace" for six and five consecutive years, respectively - awards based on anonymous feedback from our employees collected by an independent organization.

  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills, with the ability to translate research into persuasive, well-supported drafts.
  • Experience drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
  • Personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred; insurance defense or appellate background is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with trial attorneys and Team Leads across multiple case teams and manage competing deadlines.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
  • Sign-on bonus: $25,000 paid incrementally over the first 6 months of employment

You will be a key member of a team dedicated to making a meaningful impact for injured clients across New Mexico.

Duties / Responsibilities
